§5.1

TITLE 5: INDEPENDENT AGENCIES

Chapter 1: Generally

§5.1-1. Independent Agencies are those Offices which not related directly to a given branch of the Assembly, but are integral to accomplishing the overall mission of the Assembly. (4-03, SB)

§5.1-2. Agencies shall be under the control of the Director of the Agency. They shall have vested authority over the workings of that Agency within those limitations set in legislation. (4-03, SB)

§5.1-3. Directors of Agencies are appointed by the President of the Assembly with the Consent of the Senate, pursuant to Article II, Section III, Clause III of the Constitution. Nominees must be presented to the Chairman of the Senate for confirmation within 10 academic days of the President's assumption of Office, or within 15 academic days after a vacancy in such a Secretary position is known. §5.1-4. Within the Agencies there shall be a Director, who shall control the Agency. There shall also be Assistant Directors and other Deputies for the roles assigned to the Agency, as the Director shall deem necessary. (4-03, SB)

§5.1-5. If the Senate should refuse to consent to a nominee of the President, he must make another nomination within 10 academic days. (4-03, SB)

§5.1-6. Directors of Agencies shall issue monthly reports on progress to the Chairman of the Senate and the President of the Assembly. (4-03, SB)
