§3.4
§3.4-1. There shall be an Executive Department of Student Health and Safety. The Department shall manage, coordinate, and advocate for Assembly actions on student health, campus safety policy, and other related issues. The Department shall have the following roles:
- Coordination of and advocacy for Campus Safety Activities
- Coordination of and advocacy for Sexual Assault Policy and Procedures
- Working with the Student Recreation Center to coordinate student health, Intramural Sports, and Club Sports activities. (4-03, SB)
§3.4-2. Within the Department of Health and Safety there shall be a Secretary of Health and Safety who shall control the Department. There shall also be Assistant Secretaries and other Deputies for the roles assigned to the Department in §3.4-1, as the President shall deem necessary. (4-03, SB)
§3.4-3. The roles prescribed in §3.4-1 may be expanded through the direction of the President. (4-03, SB)
- The Senate of the Student Assembly calls upon the Department of Health and Safety to conduct a study that will determine the feasibility of getting a brighter and more energy efficient lighting system on our campus.
- The Department of Health and Safety must present these recommendations to the Senate by February 1, 2004. (11-19-03, SB 311-026)
- The Senate of the Student Assembly calls upon the Department of Health & Safety to entertain consultations and quotes from professional auditing teams to assess the safety of the William & Mary campus, and provide their professional opinions as to the most effective changes possible to improve the security of our campus.
- The Department of Health & Safety must present these recommendations to the Senate by February 1, 2004. (12-3-03, SB 311-027)
- Charge the Student Assembly Department of Health and Safety with researching the feasibility and costs of implementing a campus wide viewing-hole (peephole) program that:
- Removes obstructions from previously existing peepholes
- Provides peepholes if none are in present on doors
- The Department of Health and Safety shall report its findings to the Senate College Policy Committee and advise said committee on possible manners to implement the program, along with cost and feasibility estimates.
- The College Policy Committee will then decide the manner in which implementation of the program will be sought. (10-20-04, SB 312-010)
