§2.2
§2.2-1 We the Undergraduate Council, hereby charge ourselves the duty of appropriately addressing student concerns through collaboration and coordinated efforts, serving as a resource for information and a medium for discussion and debate between the student body, the administration, the faculty and the staff of the College, and working closely with the Executive and the Senate to achieve common goals and enhanced the experiences of those whom we represent. §2.2-2 These bylaws must be ratified at the beginning of each term and maybe be amended with a 2/3 (two-thirds) majority vote. (8-31-04, UGR)
§2.2-3 Resolutions may be passed with a simple majority vote. (8-31-04, UGR)
§2.2-4 2/3 (two-thirds) of all members must be present to establish quorum. (8-31-04, UGR)
§2.2-5 Each member has one vote and must send a proxy and notify their respective class president if absent. (8-31-04, UGR)
§2.2-6 Upon three absences, the officer must report to his or her class president and then to the Undergraduate Council to explain his/her absences. The body will then vote whether or not to remove the officer from the Undergraduate Council and make a recommendation to his/her fellow class officers regarding removal from office. (8-31-04, UGR)
§2.2-7 Each elected position within the Undergraduate Council shall be defined and have its powers enumerated as described in these bylaws. (3-1-05, UGR)
- §2.2-7.1 Pertaining to all Class Officers
- All class officers are required to attend the regular meetings of the class government. If one is to miss the meeting for any reason, he or she must notify the class president. If the class president is to miss, he or she must notify all of his or her fellow class officers.
- All class officers, with the exception of the vice-president for social affairs, are not required to chair social activities; however, if he or she wishes to do so, that is his or her prerogative.
- All senators from each class are welcome at any class level meeting, social event, or advocacy event. If they attend any meeting, they do not have a formal vote in determining class proceedings. (3-1-05, UGR)
- §2.2-7.2 The Office of the Class President
- The class president is considered the leading voice of his or her class in all matters pertaining to the College and/or his or her class
- The class president reports for his or her class's government at all Undergraduate Council meetings. In the class president's absence, the vice-president for advocacy (VPA) reports.
- The class president must be involved, to some degree, with both social and advocacy concerns.
- The class president has primary access to all class accounts and funds along with the class treasurer.
- It is the class president's duty to ensure that his or her class officers meet in some regular fashion to allow collaboration and communication.
- The class president is required to attend and aid in what ways possible all social and advocacy related events in which his or her class government takes part. He or she may be released from this requirement by the Vice-President of Social Affairs or the Vice-President of Advocacy of his class for events which apply to those officers' respective positions when his assistance is not required. - §2.2-7.3 The Office of the Vice-President for Advocacy
- The VPA is charged with representing the concerns and hopes of his or her respective class to the class officers, the Student Assembly as a whole, and the administration and faculty. He or she fulfills this duty in conjunction with the class president and other officers.
- The VPA must, in some form or fashion, seek to identify the primary concerns of his or her class and address those concerns to the proper SA officers, administrators, or other entity deemed responsible for the concerns in question.
- The class level VPA is encouraged to work in conjunction with his or her other class officers, the officers of other classes, the Senate of the Student Assembly, and/or the Executive of the Student Assembly when addressing concerns that impact more than one class.
- The class VPA is required to attend and aid in what ways possible all social events in which his or her class government is involved. He or she may be released from this requirement by the class President upon the advice of the Vice-President for Social Affairs of his or her class when his or her assistance is not required. - §2.2-7.4 The Office of the Vice-President for Social Affairs
- The VPS is his or her class's primary voice in all social event concerns pertaining to the College or his or her class.
- The VPS is charged with being the primary originator and organizer of social activities for entertainment.
- The VPS is responsible, in conjunction with the class treasurer, for planning class events for charity and fund raising.
- The VPS is required to attend and aid in what ways possible all advocacy events in which his or her class government takes part. He or she may be released from this requirement by the class President upon the advice of the Vice-President of Advocacy of his or her class when his or her assistance is not required.
- The VPS is expected to oversee all social activities his class undertakes. While he or she may not necessarily be a chair of a particular social committee, he or she is in the end, responsible for all actions of social events committees. (3-1-05, UGR)
- §2.2-7.5 The Office of the Treasurer
- The class treasurer advises all of the collective class officers on their class's financial situation.
- The class treasurer is responsible for keeping the class's financial books, attending any College mandated meeting regarding class funds, and keeping all paperwork related to class funds.
- The class treasurer must draft a class officers' budget each year for the following year's activities. This budget must be created after consulting all of the class officers on their plans for the coming year and must be turned in to the proper College office within the time allotted to budgeting each year.
- The class treasurer has primary access to all class accounts and funds along with the class president.
- The class treasurer is responsible, in conjunction with the VPS, for planning class events for charity and fund raising.
- The class treasurer is required to attend and aid in what ways possible all social and or advocacy related events in which his or her class government takes part. He or she may be released from this requirement by the class president upon the advice of the Vice-President for Advocacy or the Vice-President for Social Affairs of his or her class when his or her assistance is not required at events pertaining to their respective offices. - §2.2-7.6 The Office of the Secretary
- The class secretary advises all of the class officers on matters regarding external communication and class paperwork not dealing with finances.
- The class secretary is the primary officer responsible for sending e-mails to his or her class regarding upcoming events and issues. He or she is also charged with taking attendance at all class officers' meetings and taking minutes at all class officers' meetings.
- The class secretary is charged with keeping a history of his or her class government's major social and advocacy events and meetings. This history may take any form the class secretary chooses.
- The class secretary is required to attend and aid in what ways possible all social and or advocacy related events in which his or her class government takes part. He or she may be released from this requirement by the class president upon the advice of the vice-president for advocacy or the vice-president for social affairs of his or her class when his or her assistance is not required at events pertaining to their respective offices.
